Michael has worked in various fields of radiation protection for 20 years. During MSc Ecology studies in the UK, Michael developed an interest in the impact of radioactivity in various marine and terrestrial ecosystems, leading to 3 field trips to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to study the effects of radioactive contamination in the ecosystem.

Interest in the biological risks of radiation exposure led to formal health physics training in the UK Ministry of Defence, providing radiation protection advice and services to UK armed forces and government agencies.

Life took Michael to Australia in 2010 where he eventually was appointed the Senior Radiation Safety Officer to Honeymoon Uranium Mine in South Australia. Since 2016, Michael has been the Radiation Safety Officer for Peter Mac. Michael seeks to provide Peter Mac with governance and technical expertise to enhance the use of radiation in medical for the benefit of current and future patients.
