Dr. Edmond Kwan is a clinician scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre in the Department of Urologic Sciences, University of British Columbia. He also holds a joint appointment as a Genitourinary Oncology fellow at BC Cancer, Vancouver. After completing his Oncology training in Melbourne in 2017, he undertook a PhD at Monash University focused on identifying prognostic molecular subtypes in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) through profiling of cell-free DNA/RNA.
His experience also extends into the clinic, where he has a been a Principal Investigator on multiple Phase II/III clinical trials testing novel therapies in genitourinary cancers. Dr. Kwan’s research has previously been supported by multiple organisations, including NHMRC, Cancer Council Australia, US Prostate Cancer Foundation, Killam Trusts, and the Australia & New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group.
By combining expertise in cancer genomics and clinical oncology, his current research strives to understand how genomic alterations identified in tumour tissue and blood can better guide therapeutic decision-making in patients with genitourinary cancers.
